Spring Cleaning

By March 1, 2019October 18th, 2019Housekeeping

Spring is coming around the corner rather quickly so now we get to begin our spring cleaning process. Check out my suggestions below of ways you can spruce up your home to feel fresh for the upcoming season.

Outdoor

The winter took quite a toll on our yards so it is important to bring back that curb appeal. First start by cleaning up all yard debris whether this be leaves, twigs, etc. Make sure to clean not only your yard but also your gutters. Next remove all dead plants and replace them with new ones or even just clear out temporarily until you are ready to plant. You can even fertilize your lawn to help bring back that beautiful fresh green color we all love.

Next power wash the sidewalks, walkways, patios, porches, and siding if needed. Over the winter we have accumulated a lot of dirt on these surfaces so I think it is time we start with a clean slate. Power washing will make your home not only stand out but also display a well maintained appearance.

Make sure to squeegee all of your windows outside this will clean off all the dust and dirt, and leave your home feeling bright and airy inside. Consider having a professional window cleaning company like www.Idowindows.org. Treat yourself to sparkling windows throughout!

If you have not already painted your front door or mailbox now is a wonderful time to do so.

Unpack all of your lawn furniture, decorations, and even your grill. Make sure to clean all of these and get them outside ready to go for the upcoming season.

Lastly for outdoors, clean out your garage. Scrub those garage doors, floors, or even add fresh paint.

Indoor

Make sure to disinfect all of your surfaces such as kitchen countertops, bathrooms, sinks, etc. This will kill all of those winter germs and leave your home smelling clean and fresh.

Next, we will move to drawers and closets. Go through as many of these that you can, take out everything, and pick what is old, expired, or that you do not use anymore, and throw it all away. Nothing feels better than starting with a clean, fresh canvas.

Cleaning your kitchen appliances is probably a good idea also. If your oven has a self cleaner I strongly recommend doing so. Next wipe out your fridge, stove, and dishwasher.

Spring cleaning also means laundry time. Strip all your bedding and put back on when it is freshly washed.

Be sure to dust everything you see, shelves, Wainscoating, table tops, etc. Clear out all that dust which will leave your home feeling a lot less stuffy.

When it comes to the carpet you are going to want to clean this thoroughly as well. If you have a carpet cleaner it will do a wonderful job of pulling out stains or even dirt that you do not know is there.
